Iowa City Fire Department responds to small fire in Daum Residence Hall

Thursday, November 6, 2025
A small fire at Daum Residence Hall, 225 N. Clinton St., prompted an evacuation during the early morning hours on Thursday, Nov. 6. No injuries were reported, but some residents were temporarily displaced due to water damage caused by the building's sprinkler system. As of this morning, all students have been able to return to their rooms aside from the unit directly affected by the fire.

Crime Alert: Sexual Assault

In the interest of campus safety, we want everyone to be aware that University of Iowa officials received a report of sexual assault that recently occurred in an east side residence hall. Limited information is available at this time.

Update (Oct. 17, 6:30 p.m.): Campus Safety phone services have been fully restored. The non-emergency line (319-335-5022), elevator phones, and phones in areas of rescue should now function normally.
