Crime Alert: Sexual Assault

In the interest of campus safety, we want everyone to be aware University of Iowa officials received reports on Thursday, Sept. 19 of sexual assaults that occurred approximately one week ago in an east side residence hall. The assaults were reported to be perpetrated by one acquaintance against the same individual.

UI Police Response at Slater Residence Hall

On Sunday, Sept. 15, at approximately 9 p.m. the University of Iowa Police Department was made aware of a concerning social media post in reference to the possibility that a student was making explosives in Slater Residence Hall. Following a thorough investigation and interview, police determined there was no threat to public safety.

In the interest of campus safety, we want everyone to be aware University of Iowa officials have received multiple reports of fondling on campus. In these incidents, juveniles are reportedly asking for hugs, grabbing people's buttocks, and attempting to take items from victims. This behavior is considered fondling, which is a form of sexual assault and a Clery crime. The incidents reported thus far occurred in an east side residence hall on Sept. 10 and Sept. 11 during the evening hours.
