In the interest of campus safety, we want everyone to be aware that University of Iowa officials received a report of a sexual assault that occurred during the early morning hours on Sunday, Oct. 29, at an east side residence hall. The assault was reportedly perpetrated by an acquaintance.

As of 4:30 a.m. on Oct. 12, Campus Safety phone services have been fully restored. The non-emergency line (319-335-5022), elevator phones, and phones in areas of refuge should now function normally.

Update: Fire response to IATL

An investigation determined that radiant heat from the sun reflecting onto the stainless-steel exterior caused the underlayment materials to smolder. The area has been covered with a nonreflective material as a temporary measure, and regular visual inspections will continue until more permanent solutions are put in place.
Iowa City Fire Department responds to fire at Iowa Advanced Technology Lab

No injuries were reported. Foul play is not suspected, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Iowa City Fire Department. A damage estimate is not yet available.
